Why is it important?

This pre-authorisation number is crucial because Momentum Health will only cover events and expenses where a pre-authorisation number has been obtained. During the authorisation process your membership is verified and the treatment /medical benefits are approved for payment. The hospital may assist you to get the pre-authorisation number, but it is your duty to check that approval was given for the benefit /treatment.

Please note that if pre-authorisation is not obtained, you will have a co-payment of 30% on the hospital account and the Scheme will be responsible for 70% of the negotiated tariffs. Certain benefits have limits and you need to be aware of the benefits applicable to your option.
