We help you to combat fraud

  • You can easily verify a student's medical aid membership to combat fraud.
  • Enter the passport number and country of origin and the student's membership information (option, period of cover and confirmation letter) will display.
  • The confirmation letter is available to download - this letter may be used to check the validity of the document the student submits with their application for a study visa. It takes less than 10 seconds!

Study permit requirements and risks

For international students to register at a South African academic institution, it is compulsory to obtain a study permit for the duration of your studies. Many students join a medical scheme and only pay for one month's medical aid cover to get a confirmation letter and then cancel / suspend their medical cover thereafter. Please check the confirmation letter handed in with the study permit application, there should always be a specific end date.
