Cancel medical cover and refund

You are entitled to cancel your membership before your medical cover starts and apply for a refund. We need the following documentation.

What must I do first?

In the event of termination of your studies or cancellation of your study permit, Momentum Health needs the following documents to process a refund:

  • A letter from principal member requesting the refund, including the reason for the refund, plus
  • A letter from the principal member's academic institution to confirm the termination or cancellation of your registration; or
  • Proof of cancellation of the principal member's study permit.
  • A copy of the bank statement of the account holder to receive the refund.
  • A Copy of ID/passport of the principal member and also of the account holder (if the third party is a different person).
  • Complete the refund form - the form will indicate which sections you need to complete.

Pay my money into a South African bank account

  • Complete the refund form the form will indicate which sections you need to complete.
  • Send us a copy of the bank statement (not older than 3 months)of the account holder to receive the refund.
  • Send us a copy of ID/passport of the principal member and also of the account holder (if the third party is a different person).

Pay my money into a non-South African (international) bank account

  • Complete the refund form the form will indicate which sections you need to complete.
  • Bank swift code of the party/person or institution that made the initial payment to Momentum Health
  • Proof of payment made/transfer details
  • International bank's physical address details
  • Bank account holder's physical address details
  • If you paid with your credit card (Visa or Master) through an account held outside South Africa, we need a copy of the bank statement that shows the transaction details.
  • Foreign refunds: As per the regulation of the South African Reserve Bank, a refund into a foreign bank account can only be made into the bank account of the person who made the initial payment.

Please note:

As per the regulation of the South African Reserve Bank, a foreign transfer/refund can only be made into the account of the person who made the initial payment. It cannot be made to any other foreign account.
